Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.”
– Ecclesiastes 9:10 (KJV Bible)
Although this should go without saying, I have endeavored and continue to endeavor to do the best possible job with the resources and abilities which have been given me regardless of the challenges. I will back-track to the beginning of these “chronicles” starting with tomorrow’s blog and work my way forward to the present for the maximum benefit of hindsight for myself and clarification for others.
My wife and I moved from Florida to Texas during Christmas week in 2005 to take this position. We have not regretted the transition for a moment although we loved living in the “sunshine” state and miss being close enough to the white sand beaches of Daytona and New Smyrna to visit anytime.
If you are ever in Central Florida, don’t miss visiting Blue Springs State Park to see the crystal clear springs and the wonderful manatees at play. While there, eat at our favorite restaurant in Deland, the Mainstreet Grill. The Walnut Chicken Fruit Salad, accompanied by a freshly-baked cinnamon roll, is wonderful to enjoy while sitting outside next to the beautiful mosaic wall fountain. The photo in the previous post is me waiting patiently (not) for lunch.
The next post will describe my job description when first hired and will follow with the state of things when I arrived. I will try to avoid tangents and be as concise as possible for as the Bard said so cleverly: “Brevity is the soul of wit.”
